Positioned in the Lea Valley, Hoddesdon is a town in the Broxbourne borough of the English county of Hertfordshire. A section of Hoddesdon developed into an urban district because of the Local Government Act in 1894, with the remainder of the area coming to be the parish of Hoddesdon Rural in the Ware Rural District. Modification took place in 1937 after a County Review Order expanded the city district by incorporating the whole of the Hoddesdon Rural parish. This remained in effect till the Local Government Act of 1972 entered effect in 1974, which erased the city district and created the District of Broxbourne. Deriving from a coaching stop on the route between London and Cambridge, it is 3 miles west of Harlow, 4 miles southeast of Hertford, 5 miles north of Waltham Cross and 11 miles southwest of Bishop’s Stortford. Over 35 coaches passed through the town daily at the town’s peak. With a population of 20250, Hoddesdon is mainly a commuter belt town. The High Street is the home of a variety of nationwide and local shops, fast food eateries and pubs, together with estate agents, charity shops, banks, travel agents and a library. After the removal of the High Street’s pedestrianised nature in 2009, the town has witnessed a rise in level of popularity, leaving the empty shop numbers very low. Various brand-new independent businesses have also established themselves in the High Street. The lakes and water pits remaining after the drop-off of gravel extraction in the 1970s are presently used as leisure amenities. The town is also the home of a Non-League football club, Hoddesdon Town F.C., which is based at Lowfield. For all of your house upgrades, make sure to make use of credible contractors in Hoddesdon to make certain of quality.
