Berkhamsted is a medium-sized historic market town on the western fringe of the English county of Hertfordshire. Situated within the modest Bulbourne Valley in the Chiltern Hills, it serves predominantly as a commuter town, being 26 miles to the northwest of London. As per population records from 2013, the town has a permanent resident population of about 18,000, residing in around 7363 households. There are plenty of buildings in residential locations, with 77% of household spaces being houses or bungalows and 23 percent being flats or maisonettes. Settlements have appeared in Berkhamsted for over five hundred years, as suggested by archaeological evidence of flint working throughout the Neolithic period and metal working throughout the late Iron Age and Roman periods. Whilst farming, service and light industry were common occupations in the area in 1986, the most significant employers in the town in 2015 were educational institutions and retail. Nearly all of the companies in the area can be found inside the famed Berkhamsted West ward. In 2014, the Academy of Urbanism’s Urbanism Awards described the appeal of Berkhamsted’s High Street as ‘vibrant’ and ‘bustling’, establishing a ‘pleasant’ and ‘successful’ shopping location. There is a large selection of stores and food retailers available to citizens and guests, being the location a mixture of independent and commercial chain outlets, cafes, coffee shops, places to eat and pubs. For social opportunities, the Rex Cinema offers numerous current films for the citizens of Berkhamsted to see. Being built in the art deco style of architecture in 1937, the Daily Telegraph has ranked the Rex as the UK’s most beautiful cinema, and it was granted the name of Britain’s Best Cinema in the first Guardian film awards of 2014. For all of your property improvement tasks, be certain that you employ reputable specialists in Berkhamsted to ensure that you get the best quality service.
