Edenbridge is a community and civil parish in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. Its name originates from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (meaning “Eadhelm’s Bridge”). It lies on the Kent/ Surrey verge on the top floodplain of the River Medway as well as provides its name to the latter’s tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was built in the very early 2000s to alleviate web traffic pressure on the old, slim High Street is called Mont St Aignan Way. There are two banks in the town, a post office alongside the church as well as a number of major retail chains. Despite being a reasonably town, Edenbridge flaunts its very own hospital – The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. At first a cottage medical facility developed to look after soldiers returning from The First World War, a purpose constructed structure was established to the south of the town in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physical rehabilitation centers and a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a huge part of the material of the town. In recent times the medical facility has been confronted with closure sometimes, on each event it has actually been conserved by local advocates as well as townspeople, who see the medical facility as an essential part of the area.
