Kingussie is a village in the Badenoch and Strathspey ward of the Highland council location of Scotland. Historically in Inverness-shire, it lies beside the A9 road, although the old path of the A9 serves as the town’s main road which has actually been bypassed considering that 1979. The name “Kingussie” originates from the Gaelic, “Ceann a’ Ghiuthsaich” which suggests “Head of the Pine forest”. The damages of the very early 18th-century Ruthven Barracks (Historic Scotland; open to site visitors whatsoever times) lie near the initial site of the village, which was relocated to prevent the flood plain of the River Spey. The Hanoverian Barracks were improved the site of Ruthven Castle, the seat of the Comyns, Lords of Badenoch in the Middle Ages.
