How much thought do you give to your home’s heating system? The odds are you have got a central heating boiler that works well through the year to produce heat, that is then dispersed by heaters throughout your home. But exactly how efficient is your system? In actual fact you could be wasting hundreds of pounds annually having an inefficient central heating boiler. Instead, by improving your heating you may make significant adjustments to your home’s efficiency. Infrared heaters are becoming ever more popular. Heat is released at a lower temperature and absorbed into the walls, floor and ceiling. It’s then projected equally into the room, successfully heating the home. It’s actually quite simple to switch to infrared heaters and specialists could have the new system ready to go speedily and with simply no problem on your part. Panels tend to be installed on the wall and tracked into the wall to leave a clean and tidy finish.

Abbey Wood is a district in south east London, in the London Boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley. It’s south of Thamesmead and 10.6 miles east of Charing Cross. The area got its name from Lesnes Abbey Woods, which is to the east, and once belonged to the monks of Lesnes Abbey. The history of the district goes back to the 12th century, when Richard de Luci, Chief Justiciar of England, founded the Abbey of St Mary and St Thomas the Martyr at Lesnes in 1178. The Abbott of Lesnes Abbey was an important local landlord, and took a main part in draining the marshland. The draining plus the expense of sustaining river embankments was one of the factors for the Abbey’s desperate financial difficulties. It never became a big community, so in 1525 Cardinal Wolsey closed it under a licence to shut monasteries of fewer than 7 inmates. Abbey Wood railway station was opened in 1849, immediately towards the north of the location now known as ‘The Village’, constructed exactly where Knee Hill became Harrow Manorway. The Village had about 12 cottages and 2 pubs – the Abbey Arms and also the Harrow Inn. The Harrow Inn, which was destroyed in 2009, hosted live bands and was the scene of nightly migration as guests would relocate to the Abbey Arms each evening, as Kentish closing times were 10:30pm whereas the Abbey Arms closed at 11pm.
