Inverurie is a Royal Burgh and town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is located at the convergence of the rivers Ury and Don, roughly 16 miles (26 kilometres) north west of Aberdeen. According to the 2001 Census, the town has a permanent population of about 10885. Inverurie’s earliest known charter dates back to 1558, with its modern-day growth taking place as a result of the structure of the Aberdeenshire Canal. This connected Port Elphinstone with Aberdeen Harbour in 1806. The Inverurie Locomotive Works, running in between 1905 and 1969, brought about a modest rise in size and prosperity, but it was not up until the ‘Oil Boom’ of the last quarter of the 20th century that the town developed into much of what is recognised as its present form. The town centre is triangular and is prevailed over by the grand Town Hall, which was built in 1862. In the middle of the ‘square’, as it is known locally, is the Inverurie and District War Memorial, topped by a lone Gordon Highlander watching out over the town. The main shopping areas feature the Market Place and West High Street, which branch out from the centre towards the more residential part of the town. In the last few years, Inverurie has actually seen a progressing amount of Aberdeen commuters going to live there, making it called ‘the fastest growing town in Great Britain’. The town has a number of transport links adding to its attraction as a place in which to commute from, being positioned on the A96 road and served by Inverurie railway station on the Aberdeen to Inverness Line. The nearest airport is Aberdeen Airport at Dyce. For all of your home refurbishments, make sure to find credible specialists in Inverurie to make certain of quality.
