Edenbridge is a town as well as civil parish in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. Its name derives from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (significance “Eadhelm’s Bridge”). It is located on the Kent/ Surrey approach the top floodplain of the River Medway and also provides its name to the latter’s tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was integrated in the early 2000s to eliminate website traffic stress on the old, slim High Street is named Mont St Aignan Way. There are two financial institutions in the town, a post office beside the church and a variety of major retail chains. Despite being a relatively village, Edenbridge boasts its own medical facility – The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. Initially a home hospital built to look after soldiers returning from The First World War, an objective developed structure was developed to the south of the town in 1931.
