Belgravia is a district in West London within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It has extremely costly residential properties and is regarded as among the wealthiest districts in the world. It lies south west of Buckingham Palace. Belgravia’s Grosvenor Estate is still owned by a family property business, namely the Duke of Westminster’s Grosvenor Group. However, the estate has been compelled to sell a good deal of its freeholds to its tenants, because of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.
The majority of Belgravia once was owned by Richard Grosvenor, 2nd Marquess of Westminster, who created it during the 1820s and onwards. Thomas Cubitt mostly worked on the project.
