Guisborough is a market town and civil parish in the English county of North Yorkshire. It is within a unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland, and in the Trees Valley area of the North East of England. Mainly for ceremonial purposes, it remains in the ritualistic county of North Yorkshire. Considerable residential development took place during the 1960s and 1970s with the expansion of the chemical sector at Wilton and the steel industry at Redcar. Without any sizeable companies in the town, the town has transformed into a commuter town for Middlesbrough, with various residents operating in the chemical plants scattered around Teeside. Guisborough has a King George’s Field in memory of King George V, and the town’s football team, Guisborough Town F.C., plays on the King George V Ground.
