Burry Port is a village on the outskirts of Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, Wales, lying on the Loughor tidewater (Moryd Llwchwr). The town’s population was 4,209 in the 2001 census and also 4,240 in 2012. The community is house to a harbour as well as is where Amelia Earhart landed as the initial lady to fly throughout the Atlantic Sea. The Pembrey Burrows dune and marsh system, residence to a country park and also the Cefn Sidan sands, exist nearby. The town also has a proud musical heritage and is likewise house to Burry Port Opera, Male Choir and Burry Port Town Band. Burry Port exists 5 miles west of Llanelli community centre, but remains in truth still included by Llanelli Town. It sits at the mouth of the Loughor tidewater, looking southern towards the picturesque Gower peninsula. West of the community’s coastline is Pembrey Burrows, a huge location of burrow and also marshland which historically occupied several square miles of land, much of which has later been redeemed. To the north of the community is capital Mynydd Pembrey, or Pembrey Mountain. Additional north exist the Gwendraeth Valleys. The Gwendraeth Fawr runs north easterly from Kidwelly for around twelve miles (19 km). The land around the valley itself includes huge quantities of coal as well as sedimentary rock. The Gwendraeth Fawr moves the size of the valley as well as joins its sister river the Gwendraeth Fach west of Kidwelly prior to moving into Carmarthen Bay.
