Located in the Historic county of Merionethshire, the Welsh kind of the name is derived from “Aber” (tidewater) as well as the river’s name, “Mawddach”. The English kind of the name is a corruption of the earlier Welsh kind ‘Abermawdd’. The town is offered by Barmouth train station. The town expanded around the shipbuilding market, as well as much more recently as a seaside resort.
