Bargoed is a town in the Rhymney Valley, one of the South Wales Valleys. It is positioned along the Rhymney River within the county borough of Caerphilly, and it lies on the historic boundary of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire, with Bargoed originally lying within the old county of Glamorganshire whereas Aberbargoed was inside the old county of Monmouthshire.
