Alva is a small town in Clackmannanshire, embeded in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It is one of a variety of towns positioned right away to the south of the Ochil Hills, collectively known as the Hillfoots Towns or merely The Hillfoots. It is located in between Tillicoultry and also Menstrie. Alva had a resident population of 5,181 at the 2001 census but this has since been modified to 4,960 in 2006. Alva was traditionally in an exclave of Stirlingshire, however it was moved to Clackmannanshire in 1891.
