Arundel is a market community and civil parish in a steep vale of the South Downs, West Sussex, England. The much-conserved community has a medieval castle and Roman Catholic cathedral. Although smaller in population than the majority of other churches, Arundel has a museum and comes 2nd behind a lot larger Chichester in its number of noted buildings in West Sussex. The River Arun runs through the eastern side of the community. Arundel was among the districts reformed by the Municipal Reform Act 1835. From 1836 to 1889 the town had its own Borough law enforcement agency with a toughness of three. In 1974 it entered into the Arun district, and is currently a civil church with a town council. A selecting ward of the very same name exists. This ward stretches north to Houghton with an overall population at the 2011 census of 4,298.
