Carluke is a town situated in the centre of the Lanarkshire countryside in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It’s 4.7 miles northwest of Lanark and 4.2 miles southeast of Wishaw, sitting on a high plateau overseeing the River Clyde, directly at the heart of Lanarkshire’s fruit growing area. In line with a population survey in 2008, it has a permanent population of about 19500, which makes it the Clyde Valley’s most populated town. Carluke’s expansion started most rapidly through the time of the industrial revolution, with corn milling, cotton weaving, coal mining along with the manufacture of bricks, glass, confectionary and jam becoming the town’s most important industries. Now, Carluke is predominantly a commuting town. The town is served by dual carriageways connecting it to the M8 and M74, and in addition, it benefits from regular trains to Lanark, Motherwell, Hamilton, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Despite this, you will find numerous major employers based within the town. As a consequence of Carluke’s close proximity to Clyde Valley’s main fruit growers, the jam company, Renshaw Scott, is a significant employer, which developed further by recently adding a chocolate refinery to their plant. Major redevelopment works have been completed in the town since the start of the 21st century. There is a sizeable quantity of independent retailers and supermarkets inside the vibrant and newly regenerated town centre, with residents of neighbouring villages, which include Braidwood, Forth, Kilncadzow and Law, taking advantage of the wide range of shops and services that can be found in Carluke. In 2010, a ‘1.1 million indoor soft play and cafe’, ‘The Bubbles Factory’, was constructed, which was voted ‘The best Play in the UK’. For all your house upgrades, ensure that that you employ trustworthy specialists in Carluke to ensure that you get the top quality.
