Aberaeron is a seaside resort town in Ceredigion, Wales. It lies between Aberystwyth and Cardigan, and houses the headquarters of Ceredigion County Council. At the 2001 census, the population was 1422. The town derives its name from the Welsh which means ‘mouth of the River Aeron’. Rev. Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne planned and developed the town in 1805. He built a harbour that worked as a port and supported the shipbuilding industry in the 19th century.
