It is recognised for its yearly Horn Dance which takes place on Wakes Monday, the day after the first Sunday after 4th September. The Horn Dance is a folk dance from the Middle Ages where members dance through the village. In 2001, Abbots Bromley had a population of 1,799. The village dates back to 942, and is documented in the Domesday Book.

Abbots Bromley also shows the natural features of Bagot’s Wood and the largest remaining part of the Needwood Forest, an aged forest felled at the end of the 18th century.
