Crickhowell is a town as well as neighborhood in southeastern Powys, Wales, near Abergavenny, as well as remained in the historic region of Brecknockshire. The name Crickhowell is extracted from that of the nearby Iron Age hill ft of Crug Hywel above the town, the Welsh language name being anglicised by map-makers and also local English-speaking individuals. The town lies on the River Usk, on the southern side of the Black Mountains as well as in the eastern part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Considerable parts of the surrounding countryside, over 20,000 acres (81 km2) form part of the Glanusk Park estate. An electoral ward in the exact same name exists. This ward includes The Vale of Grwyney neighborhood and has a complete population of 2,801 as taken at the 2011 census. The present councillor is John Morris, a Liberal Democrat.
