The home heating system is one of the most important parts of your house. Your central heating boiler gives you heat and hot water all year long and the odds are you take little notice of it. Why would you if it’s churning out heat through the year without a problem? But wait, how pricey are your energy bills? Were you aware that upgrading your boiler could save you more than £300 annually on bills due to the improved efficiency? If your boiler is in excess of 10-years old, then the chances are there’s a huge saving to be made. Nevertheless, investing in a brand new central heating boiler isn’t the cheapest of property improvements. It’s not the most expensive either, and you could be looking at between £1,500 and £2,000 for a very efficient combi central heating boiler. To help combat this initial cost you could contemplate boiler finance. With finance you’ll pay back a regular monthly fee for however long you decide to cover the cost of the central heating boiler. This could be as little as twelve months and of course helps those who can’t pay the full one-off payment. If your boiler breaks down abruptly too, you might consider boiler finance with no funds readily available in the bank. Boiler finance is ideal and even though there exists a small interest charge, it’s a practical alternative.

Aldgate is a district inside the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and partly the City of London. It was the eastern-most gateway through the London Wall leading from the City of London to Whitechapel and also the East End of London. It gave its name to a City ward bounded by White Kennet Street towards the north and Crutched Friars towards the south. The district’s name was 1st recorded in 1052 as ‘East gate’, but became Alegate by 1108. In the 16th century, John Stow derived the name from ‘Old Gate’. But Henry Harben, writing in 1918, said that this was wrong and that documents show another variation written before 1486-7. Other meanings include ‘Ale Gate’, in association with an ale-house or ‘All Gate’, which means the gate was free to everyone. It is believed that the gate at Aldgate spanned the road to Colchester in the Roman period, when London Wall was constructed. The gateway stood in the corner of the modern day Duke’s palace on the east side of the city. It was rebuilt between 1108 and 1147, and once again in 1215. It was reconstructed totally between 1607 and 1609 in a more classical style. As the other London gates, Aldgate was chained in 1377 as a consequence of concerns about attacks from the French. The gate was eventually removed in 1761 and temporarily re-erected in Bethnal Green.
