Crickhowell is a small town and community in southeastern Powys, Wales, near Abergavenny, and was in the historical region of Brecknockshire. The name Crickhowell is extracted from that of the close-by Iron Age hill ft of Crug Hywel over the community, the Welsh language name being anglicised by map-makers and neighborhood English-speaking individuals.
